Ruby + Node.js Engineer

We’re looking for an experienced Ruby backend developer! Our dev team speaks both Russian and English, and also works remotely, so you will not be left alone. One of our key products responsible for video delivery chain from brands to retailers is built as a Ruby on Rails application, however the majority of the services are based on Node.js. We’d like to continue supporting the RoR app, however, evolutionary migrate it to Node.js stack on TypeScript.

Your typical day will consist of a set of tasks related to:

• projects planning activities, including communication with the team members of similar or other roles (PM, frontend engineers, backend engineers, devops engineer, data engineer)
• coding features and bugfixes
• conducting releases with the project team
• architecting the solution you would be responsible for, including evolutional refactoring from Ruby to Node.js

Requirements:

• You should know Ruby on Rails well enough to be able to develop an application on your own
• We expect you to know Node.js even better and be willing to shift into full-time Node.js development when the migration process finishes
• You should be proficient in working with different databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, ElasticSearch)
• We look for experience and/or willingness to write automated tests
• We expect you to understand application design patterns and the ability to apply them wisely
• A can-do attitude and willingness to learn a lot in a short time
• A great team player who is able to share their work with their teammates and solve big problems in cooperation
• Good analytical skills, ability to make truthful conclusions on problems and their causes
• Ability to use English at work (B1-B2 minimum)

Nice to have:

• Experience with modern Node.js frameworks such as Nest
