Senior Golang Engineer (Gateways Infrastructure, iPaaS)
Агентство / HR ресурс NEWHR ( new.hr )
Опыт работы более 5 лет
Locations: Spain, Bulgaria, Poland, Portugal, the Netherlands (relocation assistance may be provided).
Employment: Full-Time.
About the Company/Product:
- A global B2B product company developing a powerful Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) that uses AI and machine learning to enable organizations to seamlessly connect data sources, cloud applications, and enterprise systems through low-code/no-code automation.
- The platform is trusted by more than 400,000 customers worldwide, including leading companies such as Visa, Goldman Sachs, Cisco, Amazon, HubSpot, and L’Oréal.
- The engineering culture emphasizes technical excellence, strong ownership, and close collaboration across globally distributed, remote-first teams.
About the Role:
We are looking for Senior Golang Engineers to join our Gateways team, which builds the platform's core gateway infrastructure across several directions: the Model Context Protocol (MCP) Gateway, API Management (APIm), and AI Gateway. Depending on your background and interests, you will focus on one of them.
MCP Gateway direction — core Model Context Protocol infrastructure:
- Building and maintaining high-performance gateway and routing components for the MCP multi-tenant infrastructure.
- Contributing to MCP specification development and pushing ideas into the broader ecosystem.
- Developing server-side infrastructure for logging, monitoring, and observability.
- Debugging complex production issues at the network, OS, or infrastructure level.
- Writing Kubernetes manifests and managing deployments for critical workloads.
APIm direction — classic low-level systems engineering around execution, proxying, and traffic balancing, with minimal business logic:
- Building traffic load balancers that maintain eventual consistency, sustain 10k+ RPS, survive seamless restarts, and run across multiple nodes.
- Writing Kubernetes controllers that power the load balancers.
- Developing mTLS extensions to work around protocol and implementation limitations.
- Debugging at the wire level — e.g., reading tcpdump captures to figure out where and why SYN-ACKs got lost.
- Optimizing performance with profilers — e.g., making thousands of profiles load in 5 seconds instead of 5 minutes.
Core Tech Stack: Golang, Ruby on Rails, Kubernetes, Kafka, AWS, PostgreSQL, Redis, ClickHouse, Terraform, Prometheus.
What You Have:
- 8+ years of industry experience in software engineering.
- Expert-level Go proficiency: deep understanding of how the language works under the hood — not frameworks, but goroutines, memory, etc.
- Strong command of low-level networking specifics: TCP handshake mechanics, TLS/mTLS negotiation, understanding of mTLS operating modes and trade-offs, load balancer types (L4 vs. L7), and when to use each.
- Experience with building and scaling distributed, highly available systems.
- Experience with observability and monitoring; real production incident experience — you have been on the debugging side when things broke at the network or infrastructure level.
- Genuine engineering curiosity — a "sit down and dig until it's understood" mindset.
- Autonomous and proactive attitude — comfortable owning a full stack slice end-to-end, surfacing problems without waiting to be asked.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills — can explain the reasoning behind technical/architectural decisions, question existing solutions, and offer new, better ones.
- Good level of English — at least Upper-intermediate (B2).
For the MCP Gateway direction, additionally:
- Solid Kubernetes knowledge (network policies, writing production-grade manifests; bootstrapping clusters from scratch is a big plus).
- Hands-on experience with cloud environments — understanding how clouds behave in practice (quirks, limits, undocumented behavior) matters more than expertise in a specific provider; deep AWS experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with Kafka at a conceptual level (topics, partitions, rebalancing).
For the APIm direction, additionally:
- Even deeper networking knowledge: the OSI model, TCP handshake variants, the TLS handshake, HTTP/1.1 and HTTP/2 in detail.
- Strong background with load balancers/proxies — nginx, HAProxy, Envoy; ideally an understanding of how these tools are built internally.
- Kubernetes networking specifics (the networking layer matters more here than cluster operations).
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with Docker and other isolation technologies.
- Contributions to open-source projects.
- Background as a DevOps/System Administrator who transitioned into software development.
- Experience with Terraform (ability to read and understand a Terraform spec when needed), PostgreSQL fundamentals (indexes, joins, query performance), Redis-based caching, and ClickHouse basics (adding columns, loading data).
- Experience with third-party REST APIs at scale (request throttling, batch processing, etc).
- Experience with Ruby on Rails.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science.
- Experience working with distributed multi-cultural teams.
What We Offer:
- Top-tier engineering team.
- Competitive base salary + stock options.
- Fully remote work with flexible hours from Spain, Bulgaria, Poland, the Netherlands, or Portugal. Other locations may also be possible.
- Possible assistance with relocation to Spain or Bulgaria (visa sponsorship & relocation package).
- Full-time employment with benefits.
- Health and life insurance.
- Flexible vacation policy and paid sick leave.
- Company-provided equipment.
- Company-sponsored team-bonding activities.
- Other competitive benefits depending on location (e.g., wellness programs, education budget, referral bonuses, etc.).
