We are currently looking for a Middle+ Backend Developer (Kotlin/Java) to join our loans team. What You’ll Do

As a Middle+ Backend Developer (Kotlin/Java), you will work on critical backend systems, including credit origination services, tools for sales agents and merchants, and solutions for operational efficiency

Your key responsibilities will include:

Core Development

• Build backend services using Kotlin (Spring or Micronaut) to support credit origination
• Design and implement business logic for agent performance management and operational monitoring
• Develop APIs (REST/gRPC) to facilitate seamless integration with internal and external partners

Operational Tools Development

• Build tools to optimize recruitment, performance tracking, and management of loan sales agents and merchants
• Implement monitoring and reporting solutions to improve operational visibility

Integration & Process Optimization

• Collaborate on integrating external systems and services to enhance fraud prevention and improve efficiency

Collaborate Cross-Functionally

• Partner with business analysts and stakeholders to refine requirements and ensure alignment with business goals
• Work with cross-functional teams to discuss architectural decisions and ensure robust, scalable implementations

Maintain High Standards

• Conduct code reviews, optimize system performance, and ensure production stability
• Continuously enhance scalability, security, and reliability of services to meet growing demands

Core tech stack

Kotlin, Java, Spring Boot or Micronaut, PostgreSQL (or other SQL databases), Kafka or RabbitMQ, REST, gRPC, Docker, Kubernetes, GitLab CI, Prometheus, Grafana, Redis or Memcached

Please note: You don’t need to know or use every tool from day one — this is our project stack, and we’re happy to help you get up to speed where needed

What We’re Looking For

Experience

• Strong Kotlin skills (or solid Java experience with a willingness to transition to Kotlin)
• 3–4+ years of professional backend development experience in a strong engineering/product environment. You’ve worked on production-grade systems with real users and understand how to build for scale, quality, and maintainability — ideally in fintech, microlending, BNPL, digital banking, CRM, or high-traffic B2C APIs.
• Experience building or supporting customer-facing systems is highly preferred
• Experience with integrations like KYC, antifraud, or scoring platforms is a strong plus

Language Skills

• English and Russian proficiency (is a must) at B1+ level or higher to collaborate with international teams, vendors, and partners, and work with technical documentation

Soft Skills

• Self-driven with the ability to make informed decisions independently
• Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively across teams
• Experience with agile methodologies, such as Kanban, is a plus
• Openness to feedback and desire to grow into stronger architectural and product thinking roles over time

Nice to Have

• Experience with decision-making (e.g., DMN)
• Experience with process orchestration (e.g., BPMN)
