Backend Ruby on Rails developer

Our client is Сanadian company Evident point which is part of a digital newspaper distribution and technology group of companies and distributes digital versions of over 7,000 newspapers and magazines in more than 60 languages through its applications for iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, and various e-readers as well as its website, and operates digital editions of newspapers and magazines for publishers, including The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Globe and Mail

The project at issue: Development of a specialized program for the purchase of electronic textbooks/puzzles for schools and distribution of users.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver maintainable, well-tested, and structured code and documentation.
• Be able to work independently and resolve technical tasks with minimal guidance. This includes not only code but research and decision-making regarding best practices.
• Communicate effectively with co-workers to ensure team efficiency and provide mentoring as needed to more junior developer view pull requests as requested and, more broadly, maintain a critical eye on system performance and security.
• Be able to compose and present comprehensive proposals during design tasks that outline options and assessments.

Requirements:

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent alternative education, skills, and/or practical experience
• 3+ years of software engineering, Web development, custom application development
• Excellent coding skills with a server-side programming language (Ruby, ROR)
• Experience building hosted products that handle large, distributed workflows
• Experience developing APIs and client libraries (SDKs)
• Experience with modern software engineering practices of unit testing, continuous integration, and deployment
