Assistant Professor/Associate Professor in Software Engineering

The joint department with JetBrains, Faculty of Computer Science, HSE University accepts applications position is either an assistant professor or associate professor.

JetBrains is a company well-known to most software engineers all over the world for its IDEs, source code analysis tools, Kotlin language, and teamwork environments. The new department is to become an education and research centre in modern data-driven software engineering, source code analysis, and applications of machine learning to software engineering problems. Our goals are to advance software engineering and to educate the best students who will make programmers' lives better.

The main tasks would be:

• to develop and teach innovative courses in software analysis, design, visualization, and code generation;
• to supervise bachelor, master, and doctoral students;
• to perform research on software analysis, design, visualization, and code generation;  
• to publish in top tier scientific journals, to participate in high-level international conferences, and to contribute to open-source software;
• to participate in applied research projects in the framework of JetBrains Research;
• to acquire research funding.

Qualifications

We seek applicants who have:

• a PhD in computer science, software engineering, data and process science, applied mathematics or related fields;
• high-quality publications in top tier scientific journals and international conferences;
• a vision of future research and teaching directions;
• good teaching skills and enthusiasm for teaching and supervising students;  
• readiness to use modern blended and online teaching methods (especially due to COVID-19);
• complete COVID-19 vaccination certificate.  

Knowledge of Russian is not required; fluent English is required for any applicant.
