We are looking for a freelancer Level Designer with proven experience in Unreal Engine 4 to help us prototyping one of our original IP project.
Your responsibilities:
- Own & Improve player’s gameplay experience
- Accurately and promptly take and implement instruction from the Lead Designer
- Design and Iterate on design construct including Level Design & Layout
- Validate and iterate features and mechanics while staying within the game’s vision and core pillars
- Produce prototypes & Game Levels incorporating prototypes and features
- Designing, implementing and testing of game functionality using Unreal Engine 4
- Expand on the design details and identify issues with the existing game design
- Accurately complete, assigned tasks in order to meet milestones, schedules and other miscellaneous deadlines.
- Create & balance content for Gameplay Systems
- Balance and tune existing gameplay features and systems
- Engage in research on related topics to find inspiration for designing memorable gaming experiences
- Work closely with the Artists and Programmers to make sure the design is properly implemented according to the specification
- Script and create your own prototypes when applicable
- Foster a culture of sharing knowledge, best practices and standards
- Identify bugs and issues and suggest solutions to mitigate problems
- Ensure a high-quality product, together with Quality Assurance
- Support and contribute to new ideas
- Implement proof of concepts for your ideas
- Document and illustrate game design systems and concepts
- Create presentations explaining and showcasing your creations, levels, systems and prototypes
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 3 years of professional games industry experience as a level designer
- Strong expertise on how to build interesting gameplay and unique/different gameplay situations.
- Understanding of tools, technologies, game development process
- Understanding on how objects respond according to the laws of physics
- Advanced Knowledge on how to work with landmarks and player guidance through level design
- Good understanding of tools provided by UE4
- Ability to work independently with assigned tasks
