Our customer is the industry’s only company exclusively focused on Java and the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) and widely known for its JVMs solutions, is looking for a Customer Support Engineer

 

Job Duties:

  • Provide first and second-level support for Azul’s Zing JVM and Zulu JVM products
  • First level support responsibilities include:
    • Onboarding customers
    • Answering questions and solving simple issues
  • Second level support responsibilities include:
    • perform in-depth analysis and develop resolution strategies for issues such as:
      • application crashes
      • application performance, including both throughput and latency issues
      • gc log analysis
      • heap dump analysis
      • first pass crash dump analysis
    • application and server performance optimization
    • JVM and OS configuration, monitoring and measurement
  • Other responsibilities
    • Coordinate with Azul Software Engineering to define and resolve bugs and enhancements
    • Maintain internal wikis and external knowledge base and user forums

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information systems, Mathematics, or related subject
  • Three years of experience application support or application development, especially Java app support and development.
  • Strong Linux background, including monitoring and tuning Linux and writing shell scripts
  • High level language experience, including Java
  • Experience with any of: Apache, Tomcat, JBoss, WebLogic, WebSphere, Glassfish
  • Good working knowledge of TCP/IP networking
  • Experience with Java and Linux crash analysis
  • Windows and Mac experience
  • Good written and spoken English. This is essential, we do business in English.
