Could Booleans Soon Be a Thing of the Past? Well, there are bad news and good news. While LinkedIn may not be a leading player in the AI industry, I firmly believe integrating a natural language model into LinkedIn Recruiter will be successful. This integration will create a more intuitive and human-like search experience. On a positive note, this change signifies a move from the "art" of crafting complicated booleans, allowing talent/recruiting sourcers to focus on sharpening their interpersonal/messaging skills. It's a pivotal moment to adapt to the evolving landscape and embrace the changes unfolding within the industry.

During my career, I have worked for a wide range of companies, including non-profit organizations, outsourcing firms, as well as highly successful product companies and agencies. It is safe to say that I have witnessed various aspects of the industry, both positive and negative. One of the things that I heard throughout the years from senior-level candidates is, "How ethical is it to join a gambling company? Aren't we enabling addiction?" Life is all about balance. We all have our vices and guilty pleasures. You share a glass of wine with friends, and you're the purveyor of joy, but you cross the line, and it becomes "alcoholics anonymous." The same works with the most harmless things, like chocolate. You overconsume, and there's a high risk of excess weight/cardiovascular diseases. The brands should move away from the idea of active/passive candidates and think about how to tell their stories. Candidates should see why it makes sense to take the risk of failure and leave their current workplace.  If you have been following the Global Talent Trends Survey that LinkedIn conducts annually, you might have noticed that 85~90% of people are open to hearing about new opportunities. It means 90% of the market is active, not passive, and the other 10% are probably people who would never change jobs because of ownership/other incentives they have. This is why you have to give your story to the people in the place they want/format they want. There are many examples; for example, I appreciate how Ryanair - Europe's Favourite Airline shares its story (cost focus strategy) on different platforms (ex., TikTok).
